How the math works. Effective utilization = current CPU %. Monthly waste = spend × (1 − cur/100). Rightsizing saving = spend × max(0, 1 − cur/tgt) × min(1, (req+node)/100). Spot/commitment saving = (spend − rightsizing saving) × spot/100. Recoverable = rightsizing + spot saving. Annual savings = recoverable × 12. Estimates only — real savings depend on workload shape, burst patterns, and reliability targets.
